What to do before you reach us
A few simple steps can make a real difference while you're on your way in:
Toothache: Rinse with warm salt water and gently floss to remove any trapped food. A cold compress on the cheek and over-the-counter pain relief can help. Don't place aspirin directly on the gum.
Knocked-out tooth: Pick the tooth up by the crown (not the root), rinse it gently, and if you can, place it back in the socket. If not, keep it in milk and see us within 30–60 minutes — time is critical to saving the tooth.
Broken or chipped tooth: Save any pieces, rinse your mouth with warm water, and use a cold compress to reduce swelling.
Lost filling or crown: Keep the crown if you have it. Temporary dental cement from a pharmacy can protect the tooth until your visit.
Swelling or abscess: Facial swelling and infection need prompt attention — call us right away so we can see you quickly.
When to go to the ER instead: If you have difficulty breathing or swallowing, uncontrolled bleeding, or significant facial trauma, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.
