Canadian Dental Care Program

Canadian Dental Care Program

The Canadian Dental Care Program, or CDCP for short, was launched in May 2024 by the federal government to subsidize dental treatment for those with limited access to care. Our office is accepting the plan as of July 2024, while some offices choose to not participate in the program.

The CDCP is offered to individuals without any private dental insurance and who meet certain eligibility criteria:

  • Canadian Resident

  • Net Family Income of less than $90,000

  • You (and spouse, if applicable) have filed taxes in the previous year

The CDCP requires renewal every year to ensure eligibility is maintained. Not all dental services are covered; however, most basic services such as exams, x-rays, cleanings, fillings, extractions, and root canals are covered usually with frequency limitations.

The CDCP might not cover the full fee of a dental office’s normal fee schedule. In such cases, a co-payment paid to the office will be required from the patient, termed balance billing.
